Finding a tutor that’s right for me
Some students expressed the frustration of having to do 1 on 1 learning with a tutor they don’t connect with. They would prefer having a tutor that either a friend or family member has recommended or that has been reviewed by one of their peers.

The language barrier
South Africa is unique in having so many different languages. Many of the students expressed frustration in not being able to learn in their home language.

Travelling
Public transport is not always reliable and safe, some students wanted to be able to search for tutors in their immediate vicinity, within walking distance would be and added bonus.

Cancelling of appointments
Students often cancel very close to the arrival time without any penalties. Some lecturers wanted a feature whereby the students would still be billed if they cancelled their appointments within an hour of their arrival.

Improvements

  1. Enhanced Communication Tools: Introduce in-app messaging and video conferencing features to facilitate seamless communication between tutors and students, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
  2. Customised Learning Plans: Develop tools for tutors to create personalised learning plans tailored to each student’s unique goals, learning style, and pace, maximising effectiveness and engagement.
  3. Community Building Features: Implement forums, discussion boards, and virtual study groups within the platform to promote peer-to-peer learning, collaboration, and knowledge sharing among students.
  4. Accessibility Enhancements: Conduct accessibility audits and incorporate enhancements to ensure the platform is accessible to individuals with disabilities, including screen reader compatibility and alternative text for images.
  5. Continuous Feedback Mechanism: Establish mechanisms for ongoing feedback collection from students and tutors to iteratively improve the platform based on user insights and preferences.

Conclusion

Through iterative design and continuous improvement based on user feedback, the platform is positioned to become a trusted and indispensable resource for learners seeking academic support and enrichment.
